Visitation

Baldrix – Dwarven Cleric of the Argent Flame Torch – The Argent Flame Everyone stared absentmindedly into the minuscule fire burning in a portable pit some distance away from the Ratatosk camp. It was Ratatosk elder Glittereye who finally broke the silence. “Again, I’m sorry my friends. I would never want to slight you of any hospitality we could extend. But the mother tree has made it clear.” With that, Glittereye turned from the glow of the fire, took a step, then turned back to the party, “And thank you for everything.” Arnell stood and stated, “Well, I’ll head back to the pocket dimension and make preparations for departure.” Simon jumped up and added, “I’ll help finish identifying the last few items with the materials Verdis supplied through Thallis. We’ll be able to make quick work of those remaining.” Baldrix had sat quietly listening to the proceedings of the evening. Over the previous week, many had already gone on their separate ways. Giles, Oath, Tina, and Vara. And...

Forgotten

Kavyr – Elven Magus of Greyhaven Kavyr came to, curled in a fetal position on a cold fitted stone floor, racked with unimaginable pain. One of his first impulses was to get to his feet, but when he pulled an arm beneath him to prop himself up, the wrist buckled. Shooting pain shot up his arm and he noticed both the gaping wounds on the back of his hands and down his fingers, but even this held his attention meagerly at the shock of not recognizing his own arm and then body for that matter.  He tried desperately to recall what had happened before he was unconscious and found that trying to recall any memory was like grasping smoke. His own identity felt but fragments of forgotten childhood stories.  Looking around, the room was dimly lit with dingy ambient light - no obvious source, and filled with unidentifiable mechanical and alchemical apparatus of dizzying variety. His bare chest and arms felt damp. He dripped grimy liquid he could not discern - some composite of blood, vis...

Haunted

Arnell - Tauren Raging Monk Simon - Arcane Rouge The battle for the pocket dimension went just about as soothly as Arnell thought it possibly could. Since embarking with this crazy group, this was perhaps the first time that he’d had enough information before jumping in headlong to actually formulate a plan. He wondered what this group would be capable of with that as the norm… Arnell had been keen on the pocket dimension or half-world as Veridis labeled it since scouting it out what seemed like years ago. After returning from the negative plane with his “condition” it had all the more appeal. Thus Arnell had enlisted Simon, Baldrix, and Tina for the siege. After discussing his plan with Windwalker, Arnell had forgone inviting Kya or Kavyr. Windwalker declined indicating he needed to monitor things… He hadn’t been specific. The paladin, Oth, seemed like an obvious choice where slavers were involved, but he had been very preoccupied with something and wandered off days before the attack...

Anachronism

Aemon flipped his palm upward and outward in mild frustration as he looked up from the text, “Ok wait, what’s the significance of the blade Kavyr carries?” Cronos left his unconsumed tea on the windowsill as he made his way back to a chair beside his pupil. “It’s the Sever Blade the Warder’s gave Kavyr the night Kya attacked him.” Aemon brow drew down in confusion, “Wait, I don’t recall that happening.” Chronos reached over and started flipping pages in Aemon’s book, “Sure you do, it’s right here…” A light breeze picked up and the silence was slowly filled with the rustling of the great ash leaves. Periodically a helicopter pod tumbled down the abyss on either side of the great limb. The hollow blue light dimmed as the night took full hold. As he peered out into the distance, a glint caught his eye. He saw only one a first, but now knowing what he was looking for, he picked out several more. Arrow tips – sheaf, taunt bows. Aimed right at him… wait, not at him… Kavyr spun aroun...

Hostage

Kavyr – Elven Magus of Greyhaven Unlike the infant alliance brewing within Kya, where guest and hostess exchanged roles, Kavyr was experiencing a different crisis of identity. Kavyr found himself within the oubliette of his own mind. His senses still conveyed information to him, but it was akin to echoes bouncing off his ethereal prison pit. All sense of control was lost to him. It started cordial enough, what for the violent nature in which his captor had cast his current role. But that respectful impersonal relation proved ephemeral. As Kavyr realized he was viewed as nothing more than a vehicle, one whose memories were fair game to his warden, he hastily erected mental partitions as best he could, as best his meager training in mental resistance allowed. This was particularly annoying for a multitude of reasons. He could dwell on his current situation, but dared not try to solve it least tip his hand and make it more difficult for his companions. He dared not even take full mental i...

Host

Kya – Feral-kin (fox) Rouge/Monk Kya’s tail hung limply, but she waited till she was out of sight before showing any sign of injury. No small feat on the limbs of world tree, surrounded by the incessant chatter of the squirrel-folk, Ratatoskr in their own tongue. It wasn’t that she needed to hide injury or even just the temporary bruising from the playful squirrels, just so long as she hid any sign of weakness from It. She refused to ever let her guard down, ever to even grimace after sparring, something she did ever more frequently to gauge Its skill. It’s fighting style was so different, the blade only an extension of Its arm, not an entity all its own, something given life in the dance, in the song her absent friend would weave with it. She started when touching a particularly sore spot - It also didn’t pull punches... A distance now and out of sight from the wider bough the squirrel-folk used as a town-square of sorts, she finally rubbed her lower ribs, both sides. Her white and be...

Recollections

Windwalker – Eleven Warden/Ranger of Greyhaven Windwalker gave an exasperated sigh, he had put it off long enough. Dragging his pack to him across the ground or more accurately the bark of the world tree he still found himself a guest on, he pulled out his logbook, quill, and inkwell. With a familiar, methodically consistent script, he dated the entry and continued. “Veridis visited as promised. We put together information from him and what we learned from the avatar of Mintalk in our previous adventure. Veridis had the location of several potentials on a dead world that could lead to Tican Sumnere, a pocket dimension of the negative plane we learned of from Mintalk. This would be a trip we would be ill equipped for. We didn’t even have knowledge beforehand how to operate the portals, which was the one we needed, or if it was two-way. But given the intel from Mintalk that a prisoner was held there and the consensus from the party that any enemy of the visage was a potential ally with p...
